To accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior: Acceptance ba talaga ang makakaligtas sa akin?

"Prayer of acceptance doesn't guarantee your salvation. Just because you accepted Jesus doesn't mean you're already saved." That's what my brother from church told me. Then I started thinking more deeply. I said to myself, if the prayer of acceptance or accepting Jesus doesn't save us, does that mean the pastors and leaders are lying when they do the prayer of acceptance and tell the person they're offering acceptance from Jesus that they are now saved? So they're lying. And maybe the scripture is lying too. I stopped meditating on these thoughts or questions that I had. It's been a long time, but it's still a question for me, and I'm still confused. One morning, while I was sweeping outside, I thought about it again. Then I found myself talking to myself about this until I thought that maybe the prayer of acceptance is just a license. Then Boom! I realized that the prayer of acceptance or accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savio...

Who is Lucifer? is Lucifer Satan?

Who is Lucifer? is Lucifer Satan? It is not biblically stated that Lucifer is evil. In fact, in the Old Testament of the Bible, Lucifer is described as the ‘morning star’ or ‘son of the morning’ in other translations. Isaiah 14:12 says: ‘How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!’ We often mistakenly associate Lucifer with Satan. However, in the Bible, Satan is not referred to as the morning star but rather masquerades (nagbabalatkayo) as an ‘angel of light’ to deceive humanity. 2 Corinthians 11:14 (NIV) states: ‘And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.’ 2 Corinthians 11:14 (KJV) says: ‘And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.’ I believe that Lucifer is a fallen angel. In the Old Testament, there are other angels sent by God, so it implies that Lucifer was one of God’s angels but not Satan. Interestingly, in the book of Revelation, Jesus is ...

Using ‘It’s God’s Will’ as a Source of Comfort: Understanding Its Role Among Christian People

Using ‘It’s God’s Will’ as a Source of Comfort: Understanding Its Role Among Christian People I. Introduction I hear a lot of Christians saying, “It is the will of God or it is God’s will,” especially when they testify about something that happens in their lives. But there is something wrong with using that phrase. The question is, is it really God’s will, or, in the very first place, does it happen because of you, because of your own choices and decisions in life? Using this phrase, my reader, do you think it is a matter of trust and faith in the Lord or a matter of comfort for themselves?  II. What Does “It’s God’s Will” Mean? According to John Piper (2024), there are two Wills of God, first is the “God’s Will of Decree, or Sovereign Will” and the second is “God’s Will of command”. Piper (2024) emphasize that the first meaning of the will of God: It is God’s sovereign control of all things. We will call this his “sovereign will” or his “will of decree.” It cannot be b...

A Memorable Christmas Party: Celebrating the Most Wonderful Time of the Year with Friends

A Memorable Christmas Party: Celebrating the Most Wonderful Time of the Year with Friends by Mark Lawrence Nabor  It was December 19, 2023, and the Christmas party was just around the corner. The excitement was palpable as we all looked forward to celebrating the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas is a very significant event because it brings so much joy and laughter to us and allows us to experience that moment. I think a Christmas party is a day for appreciating everyone's work despite the struggles they are going through before the year ends. The party took place at 4 pm in the AVR room of Tiwi Community College. Although we didn't put enough effort into the decorations, the venue was still cozy and welcoming. Some of our classmates in English 3-A attended the party. We were all excited to celebrate Christmas together. The emcee, Liemar, played a crucial role in making the party a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone. He was a very good enterta...

A Journey to the Ruins of Sininbahanan

A Journey to the Ruins of Sininbahanan Our class at TCC is only half a day every Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Since our class ends at 1 p.m., I thought of visiting a place in Tiwi that I had never been to before. I asked my classmate, Ella, if she wanted to go to the sea in Baybay, Tiwi. She immediately agreed, which made me happy because it felt like an adventure, even though I had already visited that place. However, I told Ella that I wanted to explore a new area in Tiwi. She recommended ‘Sininbahanan’. I didn’t know anything about the place, but I was intrigued because ‘Sininbahanan’ means church. At first, I thought it was just a beautiful church to visit. I didn’t have any particular expectations for the place, but I was eager to go there and gain a new experience. "We decided to have lunch in the afternoon first, and then visit the Chinese garden. I'm not sure of the exact name of the place; some people refer to it as the Japanese garden, but that doesn...

THE LAW vs. THE RIGHT THING TO DO

THE LAW vs. THE RIGHT THING TO DO Doing what is ethical versus doing what is according to the law is a different thing. When you are in a situation where you need to do the right thing and have conflict with the law, you cannot obey the law sometimes. Some laws aren't applicable to all, and some laws do not benefit others. Law does not feed people; law does not heal people; but law hinders people from doing the rightful act in some situations. Take a look at this passage, John 7:22–23: "Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle, and you are all amazed. Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath. Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man’s whole body on the Sabbath?" ‭‭John‬ ‭7:24‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.” Therefore, do not judge peopl...
